About

The destination series evolved out of my travels and experiences. The response to the places and people was that everything is interconnected in a series of not-so-complex relationships. The numbing awe that one feels in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is exactly the same as the reverence one feels in the traditional kivas of New Mexico. The tube in London is no different than the bus in Beijing, the people and place are connected with each other just the same.

I find the lyrical qualities of a city have a flow much like a musical score. I’m not interested in the loud or obvious. I have found that the quieter, more subtle notes speak with the greatest information about a place. I want the photographs to be slightly mysterious and romantic – like something you are not sure is real. On my first trip to Venice, I sat at the Gritti long after my friends had left, sipping one last glass of prosecco. At that moment I thought Venice is like being awake in the middle of a wonderful dream. That is what I want my photographs to be.
