I find the lyrical qualities of a city have a flow much like a musical score. I’m not interested in the loud or obvious. The quieter, more subtle notes speak with the greatest information about a place.
The Equivalent Series are photographs that are meant to be slightly mysterious and romantic, like something that you are not sure is real. They capture those quiet, unexpected emotions that provide meaning to a moment.
On my first trip to Venice, I sat at the Gritti long after my friends left, sipping one last glass of Prosecco. At that moment, being in Venice felt like being awake in the middle of a wonderful dream. I return to that amazing feeling each time I look at my photographs from Venice.
These are my stories of feeling, mood and atmosphere.
The Equivalents Series is a tribute to one of my heroes, Alfred Stieglitz.
